Night at the Museum fundraiser draws hundreds
(DURHAM – NC) On Saturday, June 19th, the Museum of Life and Science hosted its inaugural fund raising gala, highlighting the Museum’s outdoor campus areas. Night at the Museum...Feast for the Senses welcomed over 400 guests and raised nearly $30,000 in revenue. This support comes at a critical time for the Museum’s success as government funding cuts impact the Museum’s educational mission and our service to the community continues to grow.
The event was markedly unique for the Museum, which usually offers events that focus on a family audience. Night at the Museum was delightfully different in that it offered donated food from seven different area caterers, drinks, and entertainment including the wildly popular night time train rides, live music by the “The Deluge”, a visit with the Museum’s nocturnal animals, a walk to the wetland under the moon, and intriguing entertainment like a lighted hoop and fire dance by Patika of the popular “EmberEllas”. Financial sponsors and in-kind donors sealed the success of this winning event, and included special support from The Special Event Company of Durham.
“We’re already thinking about next year and look forward to bringing the party back with a bang. The participation of the Museum’s Board of Directors was also key to our success. We truly are grateful for all who attended and supported the Museum with contributions at every level,” commented Laura Hayden, director, annual fund and event coordinator.
