Breakfast with the Butterflies
Start off a day of self-guided discovery by having breakfast outside the Butterfly House! Spend the rest of the day on your own exploring the world of science by experimenting with different exhibits, walking through a tornado, and observing animals such as red wolves, snakes, black bears and lemurs!

Programs for Brownie Girl Scouts
Bugs
Explore the wide world of insects as we meet walking sticks, hissing cockroaches, and more! Feel the butterflies flutter around you in our conservatory, and meet one of our expert entomologists. Study a cricket up close, play a game of Insect or Not with live bugs, and make your own butterfly to take home.

Letterboxer
Letterboxing is an amazing adventure game played by people all over the world! Join us at the museum as we follow mysterious clues and investigate our environment to find a hidden letterbox. We'll make our own letterboxing tools, and learn how to find other letterboxes around North Carolina.

Programs for Junior Girl Scouts
Geocacher
Geocaching is your chance to be part global explorer, part detective! Search for treasure chests, called "geocaches," using a GPS receiver to uncover each chest's secret hiding spot. We've hidden them around the museum grounds and filled them with science prizes - can you find them all?

Imagine meeting a chinchilla in its mountain home, or slithering through the savanna with a ball python. We might not be able to meet these animals in their wild habitats, but we can study them up close at the museum!

Programs for Cadette Girl Scouts
What happens to the world once the sun goes down? Let's marvel at the mysteries of night as we turn out the lights, tune in our senses, and step out into the dark. Search for constellations in a starry sky, meet one of the museum's nocturnal animals, and explore the museum grounds with a one-of-a-kind nighttime tour.
