National Watermelon DayWhat's better on a
hot summer day than a slice of cold melon? Celebrate National
Watermelon Day with us as we enjoy special watermelon themed
programming and treats at Sprout Café! Bring a melon to share with your

animals. Watch the keepers feed frozen melons and watermelon “pops” to
our animals then cool off with some melon experiments in the Lab!

Join us for our 4th Annual Science of Beer! Taste a variety of beers from your favorite North Carolina craft breweries and investigate the Science behind the beer brewing process. Meet homebrew experts and find out how to create your favorite DIY beer. Don’t miss the expansive antique beer can collection on display at the museum and meet the scientists who make yeast, barley and bubbles their life’s passion. Craft a coozie, grab a bite from a food truck, explore exhibits and raise a glass – “To Science”! ”

Bubble Blitz
Great bubbles, green bubbles, small bubbles, square bubbles! Become a bubbleologist as we study the science behind these soapy water spheres. Discover how a bubble defies gravity, and make your bubble sculptures to take home. Launch a fizzy rocket high into the air, and make your own bubbly beverage.

Wolf Awareness Week
Meet an Animal Keeper at the museum's Wolf Overlook to learn about the very rare red wolf, native to North Carolina, of which there are only 300 alive in the world, with 190 in captivity. All are involved in the Species Survival Program which works in conjunction with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service Red Wolf Recovery Program to help restore the species to its native habitat and increase public awareness of the benefits of biodiversity. Take home a wolf giveaway!
